However, I do know a few secrets to losing that initial bit of weight that will ignite a fire under you and make you reach your goals. I am an advocate of the Mediterranean diet as I am a native Jordanian and understand the benefits of the cuisine of this region and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Yes, this mean’s I tell people to use Olive Oil instead of butter or other oils and to eat plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts and legumes. However,there is much more to it than just that if your ultimate goal is to drop pounds and get to a healthy weight.
Olive Oil is a huge part of the Mediterranean diet, however if you are someone actually trying to LOSE weight, I would probably tell you to minimize the consumption of any fats, including Olive Oil. You should absolutely use Olive Oil as a substitute for other fats if you are trying to maintain a healthier lifestyle as it does contain many great benefits but in the end, it is still a fat and should be avoided if significant weight loss is your end goal.
Here is a very simple way to drop those first 10-25 lbs quickly and without any magic drugs or crazy “water only” diets: Cut out animal products, dairy, processed foods (bagged snacks), fast foods of any kind, breads and pastas (even whole wheat and grain!), and sugary drinks (sodas, juices from concentrate, etc.). To some of you this might sound obvious, however you would be surprised to learn how many people just don’t know the facts. When you eat these processed carbohydrates and sugary foods, they generally turn to fat and store in your body very quickly, and due to the lack of real substance and nutrients in these foods, they leave you craving more and feeling hungrier sooner. Over time, this is why eating this way leads to obesity and obesity related health issues.
