IT returns grow at 50 percent

Income Tax Returns have seen a jump of over 50 percent majorly in states UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh. In these three states IT return filing have seen a massive growth of 70%. In a term of April to November; more than six crore IT returns were filed with a sharp increase in less industrialized states like UP, Bihar and MP.

Government has released this data to show the increased compliance and widening of the tax base after reformative steps of demonetization, digitization, GST implementation, data sharing mechanism among the government departments and more..

There is also a major growth in ITR filing from people with income of 5-10 lakhs.
