DTH Bills will increase from coming January

As per new update; consumers will have to shell out more money for their cable TV or DTH bills from coming January. As consumer will have power to choose the TV channels and pay only for them as per the set MRP of the channel by broadcaster.

It is estimated that a consumer with no HD or regional channel will have to shell put 430-440 INR as compared to previous 200-250 INR. Majority of broadcasters have bunched up the non popular channels. The HD packs can cost you around 800 INR per month.

As per the latest guidelines; Supreme Court ordered DTH companies to set MRP of channels and consumers will pay only for the channels they watch. It will prevent consumers to be overcharged by the broadcasters.

Broadcasters such as Sony, Viacom 18 will set MRP thus distributors will not be able over charge the channels. Moreover the consumers will get 100 free to air channels in standard definition quality. But the users will have to pay a minimum 130 INR operating fee for them.

Now there will be no bundling of SD and HD packages.
