Demand for overseas medical education increased by 74%

Times of India Report says that demand for medical education overseas has grown to 74% in Indian students. MCI has issued 14118 eligibility certificates in 2017-18 as compared to 8737 last year. Although students with a foreign medical degree find it difficult to set up medical practice in India but candidates still want to go abroad to pursue education due to limited seats in country and rising affordability of foreign education.

Each year about 12 lakh students appear for national medical entrance exam. Nearly 50% candidates clear the entrance but there are only 60,000 medical seats in India. Thus Indian medical students find it preferable to pursue MBBS abroad.
